I’m writing this post on my mobile phone as I wait for Blender to render the skull mesh I just put together with the mirror effect. It is taking a huge amount of time, eons, hours and centuries of precious time. I guess I added too many layers of subsurface smoothing. The concept for the more horror/Call of Cthulhu inspired science fiction illustration for role-playing games is to combine the droid skull with a photo I took of creepy looking mirror to produce a great looking RPG illustration. ![]()
The render is taking forever though, and there is no little bar or display telling me how long I can expect to wait. I don’t see a cancel button either so I guess I`m here for the duration.
I’ll have to find another way to make my 3D meshes look smooth when they are rendered because this render time is just silly. Blender will render one of my RPG spaceship illustration renders in about a second and can update the modeling screens in almost real time so why am I still waiting for this relatively simple skull. It’s like the time taken for ketchup to come out of the bottle multiplied by the time it takes to get to the front of the checkout queue in the supermarket.
…
Update, I gave up on it in the end. I shut down Blender and went surfing on the internet for a free table-top RPG that combined Cthulhu cosmic horror with science fiction, preferably space opera sci-fi with giant robots. I didn’t find anything of course, but it was fun surfing around and looking.
