Huge monster science fiction robot for role-playing games
This giant science fiction monster robot in this illustration has a rugged look that fits with a creature that characters within a science fiction
role-playing game universe might simply view as a piece of equipment. The illustration is produced very simply. The image was produced as a
simple pencil sketch to give it a great deal of detail. This pencil sketch was then scanned in with a simple A4 scanner. The scan produced was not
perfect and the pencil lines had produced strobes and shine lines but this was no problem as the sketch was just the base to add vectors to in
Photoshop. I loaded the image of this sf monster into Photoshop and then started drawing simple black and white shapes on it with the pen tool.
The great thing about the pen tool is that each new vector shape is given a new level and can be altered independently of the rest of the image.
I gave the image a high contrast between light and shade to simulate the science fiction environment of an asteroid near a pitiless extraterrestrial
sun without the protection of an atmosphere.
The monster droid works extracting valuable materials from the asteroid and has been doing so for thousands of the role-playing game universe
years. The robot-creature in the illustration has huge disrupters which it uses for turning the heaviest of exotic rocks into dust and is of course
very dangerous.
