The Pirate Castle
This illustration was suggested by the idea of pirates using the remains of wrecked ships to make a stronghold. The picture is a scan of a
pencil sketch and has a lot of detail. The scale of the ships is much bigger than any ship that actually existed in history and this gives the
picture a sense of scale and grandeur. The ships forming the castle are anchored on an impossibly small base and lashed by the
strongest of storms indicating a fantasy element to the illustration.
The only way that the castle can exist in this situation is if a little bit of magic has been used in its construction. Because magic has been
used ghosts roam the ancient chambers of the ships used in the castle in this illustration. A great example of fantasy and children's
illustration art. An internal illustration in a children's ghost story or some fantasy fiction.
