Purple Monster for Role-playing Games
This purple monster, called the hook monster, was designed for my far future science fiction role-playing game. This game is called Tarazet and can be found on my Spiralcat.co.uk website. The monster is intended for use in a good old fashioned dungeon crawl type of role-playing game adventure. It turns an area of the dungeon into a swiss cheese of holes and waits in this lair to attack by ambush. It is at home in the hostile environment of space and is a formidable adversary for the player characters who are unfortunate enough to meet it in the role-playing game universe.
It was designed for a far future science fiction setting, the sort of game universe which Tarazet has as a setting, and the hooks of the monster can puncture the spacesuit of an unwary adventurer. The chisel teeth of the monster in the illustration can hack through the face plate of a spacesuit or even puncture power armour.
Most examples of this monster encountered tend to be roughly humanoid in size but they can keep growing if they have access to enough protein. A hive of these science fiction monsters which manages to establish itself on a well used space route can have creatures the size of elephants.
