Moon Buggy with attitude

powerful surface transport

This armoured transport is typical of role-playing game equipment and vehicle supplements. Basically these rule books are just a long list of stuff that you can find an buy while playing the sci-fi role playing game with pictures to help you visualise what's going on as describe the action to each other.

This particular illustration is of a sleek but powerful looking transport that is ideal for exploring dangerous terrain, and in a sci-fi context, specially that of a role-playing game, the terrain can be very dangerous indeed.

This moon for instance is made almost entirely of ice and has a low gravity. This makes it very difficult terrain to drive through, and makes a very robust transport almost essential, even if you aren't being shot at be your arch nemesis. And of course most game heroes spend a lot of time being shot at by their arch nemesis.

The transport is made out of some exotic sci-fi material and is reflecting the red light from the gas giant in the background, giving it a strange hi-tech look. The windows are intentionally very small, but the passengers inside will mostly be relying on their internal monitors to see what is going on around them. In this high-tech future environment windows are almost an anachronism. They are more a pleasant little design flourish than something which is felt to be essential for operating the vehicle.

Of course if your player suffers a power failure with some monster they can't see stalking around outside, they may have cause to reconsider just how necessary it is to see out. And being stalked by monsters isn't unheard of in a sci-fi RPG setting.
