The Skrimshaw Robots
This comic book tells the story of a formerly human planet now entirely inhabited by robots. It is sequential at which is intended as part of the
background material for a role-playing game called Tarazet.
Role-playing games can be a little dry to read without a lot of art and something fun like a short comic strip can really liven them up. These two
pages of the comic strip introduce the major characters, two humans and a main robot protagonist who represents his whole planet and talks to
them in the planets name. The planet is called Skrimshaw and has a problem. The robots on Skrimshaw have a virus and the comic book tells the
story of their latest attempt to get rid of the virus and be accepted back into human space.
I very much enjoy producing comic book images because it gives the opportunity to think a little like a filmmaker about the art. Within the panels of
the comic book it is possible to think about framing, sets, lighting, the reactions of the characters/actors and the pace of the story etc.
It was originally intended as just an addition to a role-playing game but has turned into a fun separate sequential art project.
