Asteroid Blastoff
This illustration of a spaceship blasting off from the surface is executed entirely with vectors using Photoshop. Vectors are great for capturing the
sharp edged shadows from an intense light source such as a spaceship thruster array as it makes an asteroid landing.
It is intended as a nice little illustration to go in the margin of a science fiction role-playing game. A nice colourful sharp edged picture to set the
scene. The spaceship in the illustration is a normal workaday shuttle of the sort player characters in role-playing game scenarios are always
encountering as they sneak around in enemy bases.
This remote asteroid landing pad is guarded however. In this illustration the structure to the right of the landing spacecraft is an automated robotic
sentry which is tasked with ensuring that the shuttle does not fall into the wrong hands.
As I talk about the possibilities I'm getting quite enthusiastic about writing a science fiction role-playing adventure module based on the scenario in
this illustration.
