The idea behind the site is that a different random word id suggested every week - surprise, surprise on Friday - and the art community who follow
the site create and post an illustration in response. It is a popular website and hundreds of images are posted in response to these weekly
challenges.
I've been responding to the Illustration Friday art site for at least a year now, and it has become quite an important part of my life. It started with me
just posting old illustrations to the site that had been hanging about in my hard disk in order to see the little jump in traffic that happened every week
as people came to look.
But then Illustration Friday began to be more important to me, I would go on the site as early as possible on Friday to see what the word was, and
then create an illustration specially in response to the word.
The word that this illustration was created in response to was "strong" and my first instinct was to draw some typical muscle-bound superhero or
barbarian, but then I had another idea. Muscles aren't the only things that can be strong, cheese can be strong too. And if there is cheese then a
mouse can't be very far away.
To us a huge chunk of stinky cheese might not be such a big deal, but to this lucky little mouse it is an enormous source of pure happiness.
